MemRE Newsletter - Issue #2
New Publications
There are now over 1200 publication in the MemRE database. For the cluster members who weren’t able to attend the AMS5 conference in Kobe, Japan earlier this month, we are working on getting the papers up on the site in the next week or two.
We are also currently working on harvesting publications from the Arrow Discovery Service which is a collation of the contents of all Australian university research repositories, which includes the Australian Digital Theses Program. We plan on harvesting only those publications which will be relevant to the cluster, such as those relating to membrane materials and membrane applications.
Again if you have any recent publications that you wish to share with the cluster please forward them along to us.

Data re-use within the Cluster
Dr Fletcher Cole from the UNSW School of Information Systems, Technology and Management is about to start a new study on the use and re-use of data within our research cluster. The research seeks to come to a better understanding of how data is constituted and represented within a collarboration of members with differing research background. In particular we would like to encourage post-docs and PhD candidates who are generating the bulk of the data within the cluster, to volunteer to participate in this study.
For more information please see the participation invite invite-handout
or contact Fletcher directly at f.cole@unsw.edu.au or on 02 9385 7124
MemRE Newsletter - Issue #1
Welcome!
Welcome to the first MemRE newsletter. The aim of this newsletter is to keep you informed about what is happening with the Membranes Research Environment website, the new facilities that are being included and updates to the materials collection and membrane dictionary. We plan to send the newsletters out on a monthly basis. Starting in June we will also include a focus section on the recent progress of a particular project within the cluster.
Subscribe/Unsubscribe
We have included all the people currently registered to use MemRE on this mailing list. However, please feel free to distribute this to anyone you feel may have an interest in keeping up to date on the project. You are able to subscribe and unsubscribe from the list by clicking on the links at the bottom of this email and sending a blank email to those addresses. Additionally, if you have any news to distribute the the group, that can also be done by sending an email to this list at the address memre@membranes.edu.au
New Publications
We have now uploaded over 1000 publications including mostly conference proceedings from 1978 to 2009. We will continue to load additional material in the coming months. If you have any old conference proceeding that have not so far been included and you think they are relevant to the project please send them up to us and we will arrange to digitise them, if necessary, and upload them into the library.
If you have any publications that have come out of the work for the cluster and are currently unable to put them up, please feel free to send them to us and we will put them up for you.
Introductory Screencasts.
We understand that you may have forgotten how to use the website and/or deposit new material into the library since we demonstrated it last October. So we are currently introducing screencasts to demonstrate how to use the site. The first of these is already up and we anticipate having the rest up in the next month.
